Officially formed the summer of 1991, the Battle River Singers are from Red Lake Nation Reservation in Minnesota. With the help of friends and relatives, three Kingbird brothers (whose father was a member of the original Kingbird Singers) started the Battle River drum group as a way of preserving and celebrating the singing they grew up listening to.

Each member of the drum comes from a strong family line of singers and song makers, and together they have won singing titles throughout the U.S. and Canada.
